Out with the old: shower and hair products

I always like seeing on other blogs what products the bloggers have used up. So I decided to make two posts: out with the old and in with the new, where I'll show you the products I've used up and the products I bought to replace them. So I'll give some mini-reviews of the products. Today: out with the old...

Winter wonderland

It's that time of the year again, which means it's time for christmas markets. Last Friday, my boyfriend and I went to the opening of Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park. It's one of the biggest christmas market/fun-fair in London. It's a nice place for families because of all the attractions, but an even better place for students because of all the cosy chalet-style bars which sell liters of mulled wine (also known as gluhwein) and beer.

Recipe: simple salad

I'm a big fan of salads but I admit that they can be a bit boring sometimes. Some people don't like salads but I think that's because they've never had a good one! Here's a salad I've been preparing a lot of dinner or lunch (to take to uni) and I'm loving it! I decided to post this recipe because it's so good, even though salads are the easiest thing in the world to make.

Christmas anticipation - fall favorites

Left to right, top to bottom.

♥ A tub of coconut coconut oil: I use this once a week as a treatment on my dry scalp (winter really dries out my skin) and hair and I love it because it's so easy, effective and low-budget. Read this for instructions and all information.

♥ Forever 21 Bracelets: sparkly with a tinkle sound, festive without looking like a walking christmas tree.

♥ Winter tea: the only tea I have that I can drink with milk (I'm a herbal tea girl). It's cinnamon-y and yummy. I'd love to drink it out of this cup!

♥ Lush Glögg shower gel: read my full review here. You can't find any shower product that screams 'winter' and 'christmas' more than this one.

♥ Durance candles: I received the scents 'Noisette' and 'Raspberry-mint' for my birthday and I really like these candles. The smells are subtle and quite unique. Especially the hazelnut candle is a perfect fall candle and has a real hazelnut scent. And it's romantic! Get yours here.

♥ Spiced Chai Latte: I love this! It's less than two pounds at Waitrose and will make more than 10 delicious chai lattes. Just mix with a little water and milk. One chai latte at a coffee shop usually costs more than 2 pounds so if that's not a big saving tip I don't know what is ;) I know for a fact that Fratelli Coffee and Cafe Nero use this exact brand. It's the perfect blend of sweet, spicy and christmassy.

♥ Brazil Nut body butter: Some of you will know that this is my favorite body butter ever ever ever! I got the rest of my family hooked on this DELICIOUS smelling body treat and I consequently had to go a search for the last 5 tins I could get my hands on. I believe next summer sale will be the very last time they will be sold.. sob! I think they still stock these at TBS outlet shops. If you see this at any Body Shop, get it, you won't regret it.

What are your fall favorites?

Lush Glögg

I've never tried anything from Lush and after only hearing positive things about it, I finally ordered my first Lush product online. The thing that puts me off with Lush is that the shops just smell so strong as if all the soap in the world was put in one place.. and I'm not a big soap fan. So after a few clicks and two days, I received a little package...

Bloglovin'

Love reading blogs but you've got a way too many bookmarks to keep track of the latest posts? The ultimate solution is Bloglovin': an RSS feed type thing which lists all the new posts of your favorite blogs ;). I especially love the iPhone app which I use when I'm on the bus or waiting somewhere.

So what are my favorite blogs? I follow quite a few blogs (much to the frustration of my boyfriend hehe), some I discovered years ago and some I've only recently starting reading. I used to only read fashion blogs but now I also like reading blogs with a funny/good writing style and personality. Oh, and food pictures and recipes; love it!

I've selected my favorite blogs out of the 36 that I follow on Bloglovin' (English as well as Dutch blogs):

Lifestyle/food
The Londoner - the best tips on what's hot or delicious in London, yummy recipes and a British lifestyle. I love Rose's writing style, especially when it comes to describing food.
Annemerel.com - another lifestyle blog (Dutch) with a great writing style and personality. I really enjoy reading the posts on this blog. I met Annemerel in London not long ago and she seemed like such a nice girl!
Kenzas - the biggest blogger in Sweden, her blog is her diary (kind of). Not sure why I still keep following this blog, it's just become a routine! (google translate ruins the writing though)

Fashion
The Blonde Salad - the best fashion blogger in my opinion; I really saw her style evolve over the years. ps. I'm endlessly jealous of the contents of her closet
Kayture - this blog has really beautiful photos. I admire Kristina for taking a year off to only focus on her blog!
Fashion Fever - the blog I like reading the most out of all Dutch fashion blogs because I can relate to Esmee's style and taste
Fashion Squad - Swedish fashion blog. Carolina is absolutely stunning and her style is so unique and cool.
Tuula - This happy girl seems to be on a never-ending trip around the world!

Beauty

The Beauty Department - run by a few women including Lauren Conrad. I actually learn lots of new beauty tricks from this blog every day.
Misslipgloss - my favorite Dutch beauty blog, great content, writing and the best product reviews with amazing pictures.
Beautygloss - another favorite Dutch beauty blog with great videos and tutorials.

.. and don't forget to follow my blog on Bloglovin!

Turquoise Anna Dello Russo clutch

My sister requested a post about the one thing I got from H&M's collaboration with Anna Dello Russo, so here it is. The collection was not my taste but I really liked this bright blue clutch with the little dog on top (not a Bambi like I initially thought). I also noticed that this was one of the items that sold out the fastest, so I think I made the right decision ;)

New in: bangles

The past few months I've been wearing almost no jewelry, even though in high school I was rocking an arm party every day. Maybe it's just comes and goes in phases..
Currently, I like wearing some simple bangles and I found these two at Forever 21 for a small price. I would have liked them a tiny bit better without the black parts (replaced by rose gold maybe?), but nonetheless they add some sparkle to my day.

Merveilleux, Bruges

Since I spent the weekend in Belgium, so my review today is a little different: no London, but Bruges! I know some of you might not go to Bruges anytime soon, but I just have to share this place with you. Just write it down for your next trip to Belgium, because it's not worth coming to Belgium without seeing Bruges, and having lunch at Merveilleux!

I hadn't been to Bruges in years, for the simple reason that it's about two hours away from my hometown. I had forgotten how cute and pretty Bruges was, so I was happy to walk around the city a bit. I was surprised at the amount of tourists there were, I had really forgotten how popular this picturesque city is.

Now, the restaurant. Merveilleux means wonderful in French, and it describes this lunchroom/salon/tearoom perfectly...

Love: Skyfall

Despite the various opinions about the new Bond movie, Skyfall, I still really liked it. Some parts were not that great, but overall I'd like to watch this movie again. I think everyone is being a bit critical because this movie was advertised EVERYWHERE you looked so expectations were high.
Anyway, the part I liked the most was no doubt the intro. There's just something about watching a great intro, with great music in front of the big screen. It really sets the tone for the whole movie I think. (the intro for The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo is also a favorite of mine)

Unfortunately, I couldn't find the intro on Youtube (yet), but I've included the intro song by Adele, which I love.

ICCo Pizza

Looking for the most basic, quick, freshly made and good value pizza in London? Stop looking, because I've found the perfect place for you. At ICCo (Italian Coffee Co.), you can find pizzas to take away and eat in, made fresh right in front of you. I don't think you can find any cheaper, freshly made pizzas in London!

Why I ♥ fall..

♥ Those days when the air is crisp, it's really cold outside, the sky is blue and the sun shines: my favorite autumn weather (forget about all that rain!)
♥ Gingerbread latte's, hot chocolates, chai latte's, pumpkin spice latte's; the perfect drinks to keep you warm.
♥ Looking forward to the first snowflakes.
♥ Counting the weeks/days until Christmas holidays!
♥ Burning your favorite scented candles for the ultimate cosy feeling.
♥ Limited edition christmas beauty products, like a Ciaté advent calendar with 24 nail polishes, how cool is that?
♥ The yellow, orange, red leaves falling down the trees.
♥ Searching for the perfect cosy jumper.
♥ Looking forward to the christmas lights on Regents/Oxford Street and Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park, London is extra awesome around Christmas time (let's not forget about the January sales!)

M.A.C. Limited Edition, Christmas '12

I think I've just found the most amazing christmas presents (for girls at least..): the M.A.C. holiday face and eye kits. I love the limited editions by M.A.C. so when I saw these on the website I just had to write about it. The design team at M.A.C. always comes up with the most beautiful packaging that make me want to have it all.
This collection is so pretty, with the pastel soft cushion-y outside and the beautiful products on the inside. I will definitely go and have a look at these and put them on my Christmas wish list!
