Vision board

Around new years, some people tend to make a list of new years resolutions. I'm definitely not one of those people: when I make resolutions forget about them after a week (I'm sure I'm not the only one). So this time I made a vision board, inspired by this video (in Dutch). A vision board is a collage which acts as an inspirational poster, simple as that!
My first vision board!

Take a pile of old magazines and cut out inspiring words, quotes and pictures. I included some inspiring quotes like "Good skin day, every day". I also added some images like a Prada bag, healthy food, and a photo of a beautiful holiday destination. You don't need to take everything literally, I just included things that were inspiring me in some way.
Hang it up somewhere where you'll see it every day. This is based on the law of attraction and the Secret: by seeing the vision board every day, you'll visualize the things on the poster which brings you closer to getting what you want. Whether you believe in it or not is up to you. I think making a vision board is quite fun to do, and if it really works that's only a bonus;)

The little red jacket

I've recently been eyeing red jackets. I don't know what it is, but I think red (leather) jackets can look really nice. But it can also look really tacky so you need to combine it with the right colors and clothes. I like how Rosie Huntington, Kenza and EsmeĆ© styled this 'difficult' piece of clothing. I'm still a bit undecided about it, especially because I have blond hair, but every time I see a red leather jacket I'm tempted to try it on. What do you think, tacky or stylish?

Mont Blanc dessert Recipe

First I'd like to wish everyone a merry Christmas! Second, I'd like to share with you today a family recipe for a wonderful dessert which is perfect for winter. I'll admit that this might not be everyone's cup of tea, but if you like chestnuts or you'd like to try something different continue to read. It has been my absolute favourite dessert for years for one reason: it contains chestnuts, my number one fall/winter food!

Madrid diary

As you may know I went to Madrid for a few days last week. Today's I'd like to tell you what I did there! The weather was awful but that didn't stop us from going out and visiting the city. I didn't take pictures of everything I did, but I tried to capture some moments. Get ready for a long post!

La Bola, Madrid

La Bola is located in - you'll never guess - Calle de la Bola. It's hard to miss, because in the rather grey street, you'll find a very bright red facade. My boyfriend (A) and I walked in at 1 pm and it was empty (Spanish time), but we took a seat and the coming hour we watched loads of people walk straight to the 'back' of the restaurant. I thought it was staff or something, until I went to wash my hands only to discover two massive rooms which were also part of the restaurant. Don't let the tiny red facade fool you, this restaurant is BIG.

Christmas gift idea part III

For the tv series or movie fans: a DVD box set of his/her favorite series/movies would make a great christmas present. Buy just one season if you're on a low budget, or buy all seasons. For a more over-the-top present add in a popcorn maker! Popcorn is my favorite snack so I'd be delighted finding this under the tree, just like almost any cinema fan would.

I have The Sex and The City box and I've watched all the seasons at least three times since we got this box; fully approved by me! Breaking Bad has become my favorite non-girly series and I can't recommend it enough. For the movie fans there is a James Bond set with 22 bond movies, awesome movie nights guaranteed. Endless choice and a fool-proof christmas present for everyone!

I found all of the above on Amazon!

Christmas gifts idea part II

Today's gift idea are the accessories at Kate Spade. I had never walked into a Kate Spade shop until a few weeks ago when I stumbled upon the new-ish Kate Spade shop at Westfield London.
There are some lovely accessories, like iPhone cases, iPad, cases, fun t-shirts, clutches in the form of a classic novel, cute going-out bags, passport holders, make-up bags, stationary and wallets. Prices range from £25 to £325 so there's something for everyone. I think Kate Spade is a great place for present shopping!

You can find everything shown above on the website. Happy shopping!

Burger & Lobster, Farringdon

I've think found a new favorite. It has buttery lobster, crispy fries, frozen pints of cold cider and it's so good that it's slowly taking over London. I'm talking about Burger & Lobster.

Christmas gift idea part I

When I was in Madrid, I was amazed by the shop windows of all the Loewe shops. I have never seen such artistic shop windows, literally, because each window was made to look like a still life (have a look here). It looked so cool and impressive! Here is one of them:

The second thing I noticed were these super cute animal-shaped purses that you can spot above. This year's collection at Loewe is all about the animals: there's an elephant, bears and bulls. Adorable! I had a closer look at the airport and they are so well-made and the colors are really original. I haven't even mentioned the animal shaped padlocks and the keychains.

A great gift for any animal lover or anyone who doesn't own a coin pouch yet (it's so handy). For the good quality (they are handmade) and the cuteness they are almost reasonably priced at 195 euros. Find them here. And have a look at the Loewe shop windows if you get the chance!

Essie Bahama Mama

While I'm still waiting to get my hands on the Asos order I made (it arrived 10 minutes after I left to the airport - bad timing?) I'm wearing this pretty burgundy-oxblood-red wine color. Burgundy seems to be really fashionable this winter, I see it everywhere. My friends and I even turn up at uni with matching burgundy scarves! So I'm loving this Essie nail polish at the moment!
I didn't make any swatches because my nails are still in a bad condition (anyone know a miracle treatment? I've tried it all) but you can find swatches here.

Zara winter

I feel like it's been too long since I've written about Zara, which it probably hasn't, but anyway I wanted to show you my current favorites. There's nothing specific on my wish list, but I'll have a browse around Zara in Madrid next week :) What are your favorites at Zara at the moment?

Asos order

Since I won't be in Belgium for Sinterklaas (our version of early christmas.. for kids) and I've been sitting at my desk for the past week, I placed a little order on Asos. And because I my shopping basket at Asos is constantly full but I never end up buying any of it, I decided to break my habit and actually order something. I got three things:

Hello!

How are my dear readers? I'm sorry for not posting so many posts but that will all be over on Thursday - hopefully - when I hand in my final assessment of the semester! Then I'll have a few days left in London before returning to Antwerp for a long winter break. I can't wait!

But that also means I'll have to enjoy London's festive vibe to the fullest the coming week. I need to go to so many more christmas markets, celebrate with my friends and do the necessary christmas shopping. I can't believe there are so many discounts/sales around this time? It seems like most shops/malls in London always have some kind of discount, it's crazy! But you don't hear me complain ;) However I'm kind of holding back the serious shopping until January sales come around or until I go to Madrid next week (so excited!), where paying a visit to my good friend Zara is on the top of my list. Okay and maybe also visit the city I've never really seen much of. And have a romantic weekend with my boyfriend

I should really stop rambling now. How ironic is that at the very end of my day, I'm so eager to type, while I've been struggling on my essay since 9 am. Oh well, tomorrow's another day. Must. Finish. This. Essay! Can't wait to blog a lot because I have so many ideas related to Christmas.

ps. while I was very busy writing my essay, I made myself a Tumblr where I post inspiring and beautiful photos. I'm not sure if I like it, but have a look before I change my mind!

Festive room decorations

I found a great low budget and easy way of making your room/studio/apartment/house more christmassy. This post is mostly for fellow students, who might be going home for christmas but still want a festive atmosphere in their student home before heading off.

In my opinion, festiveness can easily be achieved by two types light: fairy lights and candle light. So I went to Primark to complete my mission. For 4 pounds I managed to prepare my room for the festive season and make it cozier than ever before. I know you could decorate your room much more, but these are just the basic "necessities"

No need for christmas trees and ornaments (even though that's even lovelier). Just get 40 fairy lights - you can even get 100 or 200 - for 3 pounds and a little candle (1 pound) with a christmas scent. Oh and don't forget to turn on your christmas playlist. That's it!

How do you like to decorate your room for christmas?

In with the new: shower and hair products

As promised, here are the new products I bought. There was an amazing 3 for 10 deal on John Frieda products at Boots so I made good use of that. And I needed a new shampoo and dry shampoo because I had used up mine.
