Columbia Road flower market

There's an endless list of things to do on a Sunday in London. One of them is going to the flower market on Columbia Road in East London. If you know me well, you'll know that flowers are some of my favorite things in the world, so consequently, this market is now one of my favorite new spots in London!
I'm not sure why it took me so long so finally come to this market, but last Sunday the day had finally come. My friend and I took a tube to Bethnal Green (Central Line) and walked for 10 minutes to get to the market. After getting a little lost while walking through a rather quiet neighborhood, we suddenly heard live music and saw people carrying flowers. A good sign!

My friend was on the hunt for tulips, and I was on the hunt for any flowers that would steal my heart.
Columbia Road is a lively street with music, cute little vintage interior design shops and loud market vendors shouting "loooovely tulips, 3 for 10 pounds!" or "Oooorchids, 7 pounds!". It was busy and slightly overwhelming but I loved it. The options are endless: different plants, orchids, lots of flowers and even fresh herbs in pots.

We walked all the way to the end of the market, laid out the options and decided which flowers we wanted to get. I opted for bright red anemones (bottom left, first picture), some of my favorite flowers.. who am I kidding, nearly every flower is my favorite flower! The Dutch tulips were also gorgeous. My favorites were the white and red ones.

We also discovered Lily Vanilli bakery, which sounded vaguely familiar to me. We managed to resist the delicious looking red velvet cake.. for now. There were plenty of cute little cafe's which are great for a quick coffee and cake before you buy flowers.

The live music sounded so cheerful! I also saw this adorable black pug pup, too cute.

Columbia Road flower market is a must-visit when you're in London! It opens at 8 a.m. every Sunday (until around 2 or 3). A lovely and busy atmosphere: perfect for not-so-lazy Sundays!
