Love: Zara orange coat

After I made my wish list last week, I went to Zara to have a look at the new collection. After some browsing around my wish list had already expanded about 10 times. The item that stood out most was this coat, available in a muted orange colour and black. I love the orange colour and simple shape!

YSL Volume Effet Faux Cils Shocking mascara

I love mascara. If there's only one make-up item that I could use for the rest of my life it would be mascara. I love my Clinique High Impact mascara (I've updated my review, have a look) but I wanted to try out the YSL Shocking mascara after reading good reviews. My sister didn't know this, but managed to give it as a christmas present! Lucky me.. here's my verdict:

Whole Foods Market, High Street Kensington

Whole Foods Market is one of my favorite grocery stores in London. The two biggest branches in London are at Piccadilly Circus and on High Street Kensington. I prefer the second one because it's huge. I showed Montana around Whole Foods last week and her reactions were just like mine when I first visited the shop: "I want to eat everything!" I took some photos so you can see why..

Zara Spring '13 favorites

As I'm writing this post, it's snowing yet again in London; I can't believe it! Every time the sun comes out I think that spring is finally here, but I couldn't be more wrong. Despite the weather's moodswings I've been browsing the Zara website daily to find my favorites and think about spring outfits. Here are my favorites:

Look-alike Prada heels // a cool 3-d pattern sweater (Balmain!) //  all-pink outfit // black handbag // black lace top
the popular heels every blogger owns // cute leopard skirt // love this whole outfit // sexy heels // beautiful lace shirt

As always, I think Zara just gets better by the season. Even though it takes inspiration from other brands (check out the blue and white outfit above: totally Isabel Marant!) they also create pieces which look pretty unique and more high-end than high-street. Love love love it!

ps. Yesterday's post was my 300th post on whiskers & lions!!

Recipe: crunchy cornflake-chocolate clusters

A while ago, I saw a box of cornflake-chocolate clusters at M&S and I was tempted to buy it, until I figured out I could try to make it myself. Cornflakes and chocolate clusters seemed very easy to make, so I got myself some regular cornflakes and dark chocolate and whipped up something yummy, crunchy and very chocolaty!

202 London

Last week, my friend Montana paid me a visit. This meant that I had to show her the best bits of London; Notting Hill on a sunny Sunday is definitely one of them. We walked through Portobello Road, looking to find a nice place for lunch and as we walked past 202 on Westbourne Grove I saw the most amazing looking caesar salad. We kept walking for another two minutes, but we eventually made a U-turn and went straight to 202. What followed was one of the loveliest Sunday lunches I've ever had..

LFW Burberry snapshots

Yesterday, some friends and I went to experience a bit of the LFW. And what better place to spot fashionistas than at the last but definitely not least show of fashion week: Burberry. We spotted some people from the fashion industry like Vogue's Franca Sozzani but also celebrities like Rosie Huntington-Whitely and Rita Ora. Have a look at the pictures I snapped with my little camera..

Valentine's make-up looks

Happy Valentine's my sweet little readers! Today might be the most commercial holiday of the year, but any excuse to receive and buy presents, go on a nice date or indulge into a huge box of chocolates, must be a good one right? Whether you have a hot date or you're having a girls night out, I've got some make-up inspiration for you.
Photos from Vogue UK Beauty
We've all heard that boys like girls at their most natural. However I don't think it's a great idea to go on a date wearing zero make-up, because you want to show you made a bit of an effort: a natural and sweet look will be just fine. Flawless skin is your base. As for the rest of your look, don't overdo it. Pink blush is almost a must!

For a girls night out, I like the idea of having a bright pink lip. It seems to be a big trend this year. Very natural eyes, minimal blush and contouring and bright matte lips. What a lovely look! If you don't like lipstick, go all out on the eyelash department for a more sexy look.

I hope all you Valentine's lovers have a great day and night!

Recipe: easy peasy zucchini (courgette) fritters

I had made zucchini/courgette fritters (small pancakes) once before, and today I really felt like having them for lunch. I had some zucchinis in my fridge and improvised the remaining ingredients. It's super simple, quite healthy and really tasty!

My blush collection

I'm a huge make-up fan. Blushes are that type of make-up items that you can never have enough of. Here in London, I've built up a small collection of six blushes. My favorites are NARS Orgasm, Sleek Pixie Pink and MAC Mighty Aphrodite.

One week in the mountains

It was a little silent on my blog last week for one good reason: I was in South-Tirol skiing! The weather was flawless, the slopes were nearly empty which meant incredible skiing and I'm totally ready to go back to London and start ploughing through the massive pile of work I have this month! I'll try to blog every other day, if not every day :) For now I have some pictures from last week..

In short, my week consisted of: lots of sunshine every day, snow & cold, snowblades (aka mini-skis, my skis of choice. I prefer it to regular skiing and snowboarding), skiing mostly on the mountains of Cortina D'Ampezzo and Kronplatz, walking the dog,  early morning breakfasts, long days, nearly empty slopes and long car drives. In one word: perfect!

Oh and my siblings finally managed to get me hooked on their favorite tv show: The Borgias. I thought it wasn't my type of show but I'm super obsessed now!

Valentine's gift ideas

Valentine's day is approaching. Some may be dreading the arrival of this day and plan on spending it in bed with Bridget Jones and lots of chocolate. Others may have booked a restaurant months ago for a romantic candlelit dinner and a delivery of two dozens of roses to their beloved. Either way, I made a small Valentine's gift guide for the ones who don't have a clue what to get their girlfriend/boyfriend, or for the single ladies out there who agree that Valentine's day is the perfect opportunity to treat themselves.

Chilango

I had heard so many good things about this Mexican restaurant/take away service that I couldn't wait to try it out. Chilango offers burrito's, taco's, tortilla chips, salads, and some other typical Mexican food. I opted for a grilled chicken salad with extra guacamole and tortilla chips, take-away please! Voted best Mexican by the Evening Standard and numerous others, I couldn't wait to dig in.

Diptique Cyprès

Not only does Diptique have amazing candles, but they also have a range of interior scents (and perfume, my favorite). There are some lovely scents, including a really realistic Lavender scent. Back in December I chose the Cyprès interior scent at Selfridges to make my room and linen smell nice, and it smells divine!

A balanced breakfast?

Recently I've been putting a little more effort into my breakfasts. I've been experimenting with different smoothies (and I found a winner!) accompanied by a bowl of porridge. Not super elaborate, but better than my breakfasts last year when I would just have some fruit and yogurt but I'd get hungry after a few hours. I am much happier with my new breakfast routine. Keep reading if you'd like to know more :)

Sunday walks in Hyde Park

I love Hyde Park. It's huge, it's green, there are dogs running around and it just makes me feel at home. After living in the countryside for over 18 years, moving to a big city was kind of a big change. I love being surrounded by nature and going for long walks with my litte dog. I think Hyde Park is as close as I can get to the home feeling. Last Sunday was had the most beautiful sunny and windy day, so I went out to get some fresh air.
