I ♥ Hema

If you're not from Belgium or the Netherlands, you might not know what Hema is. It's a Dutch shop where you can buy a whole variety of things: clothes, underwear, make-up, food, stationary, kitchen-ware, jewellery and there's usually even a cafeteria where you can have a quick bite to eat. It's that type of shop where you really can't go without buying anything. Hema always has the best stationary, so for all you students (or stationary lovers) out there, I'll show you what I bought recently.

Louise Galvin Sacred Locks: Fine Hair Collection

As you might know, I have been loving hair care which actually does something good to my hair, inside and out. Always on the hunt for a hair care range which doesn't contain nasties like sulphates, parabens, petrochemicals, silicone, synthetic fragrances, which is environmentally friendly and which isn't tested on animals; too good to be true? Nope, the Louise Galvin Sacred Locks range proves that hair care can be all that and more...

Most Loved V

It feels like summer is slowly coming to an end. After having had another fantastic summer, it's time to get a little serious: start thinking about my dissertation (eek!) and finding a new flat in London. I'm actually really excited to be going back to London next week for a few days, it really is my favourite city in the world. Anyway, here are my most loved things from the past few weeks:

Lunch: simple caprese salad
I made some fresh basil pesto so I thought it would be perfect with a caprese salad. So simple but so delicious!

Movie: Safe Haven
I wasn't expecting much from this movie, I just thought it would be very cliché romantic. But it wasn't! There's some mystery and thriller in it too, which made it more exciting. I won't reveal any more, but I really really liked this movie, so go watch it:)

Shopping: birthday shopping
The day before my birthday I did some fall shopping and got some lovely items including this 'A' t-shirt from H&M and at last a pretty, warm cable-knit sweater which doesn't have wool (I'm allergic), from Zara. I also got some other things, which I might show you soon.

Place: the beach.. in Spain
There's nothing better than spend yours days at the beach during summer. I was lucky enough to go to Spain again this year, with my friends! We spent most of the time at the beach, tanning, swimming, playing beach tennis and trying out the new Solero Mojito.

Drink: homemade watermelon cocktails
One night in Spain, we decided to make our own cocktails and kind of improvised. We bought a massive watermelon and cut it in half. We made random cuts in the 'flesh' of one half, added vodka to it and let it rest in the fridge. The other half was simply scooped out and blended. After a few hours, we did the same to the vodka-half. Mix both and voila, you've got a delicious, fresh, watermelon cocktail!

Make-up product: Nars Orgasm blush
I've worn this nearly every day this summer because it's gives the most gorgeous glow. By far my favourite blush ever! I can't wait to try out more Nars products, like the Albatross highlighter or the Laguna bronzer.

DIY ombré rainbow nails

With all those nail stickers in different colours and patterns, you'd almost become too lazy for real nail art. Inspired by my sister's neon nail polish collection, I decided it was time to get a little creative. The result: neon ombré rainbow nails! It takes a little bit of time, but it's easy and by far the coolest summer nail art.

Royal China, Baker Street

I completely forgot about this review; it's been sitting in my 'drafts' for quite some time, poor thing. I said goodbye to London a few months ago; I'm really starting to miss it and I can't wait to go back. Ever since I first came to this city, I've always had an ever-growing to-do list ( or rather to-go list). Royal China was one of those places that was on my list for ages, so a few days before I left for the summer, I finally went there.

New in: sandals

On my most recent trip - to Spain - I did a little bit of shopping. These two pairs of sandals had to come home with me. I wear sandals all the time during summer because they can easily be worn during both day and night, and because they are super comfortable (well, these type of sandals, not painful in-between-the-toes bits). I hope the summer lasts a bit longer so I can wear them a few more times. Love them!

Current lip favourites: MAC, Urban Decay, Revlon and Maybelline

During summer I like either nude looking or super hydrating lip products, while in winter I go for more daring colours like red (which I think looks better with my fair winter skin). The following five lip products have been my favourites this summer!

In full bloom - Mark Colle

I recently read this interesting article about Antwerp-based florist Mark Colle. He has worked with Raf Simons and Dries Van Noten for their Paris fashion shows, and has proved to the world that flowers can really add an extra dimension to fashion. Raf Simons' first show for Dior last year impressed me so much, partly because of the beautiful collection, but mainly because of the flower walls designed by Mark; I'm still amazed by it. I couldn't keep this article to myself and for the love of flowers, I'm sharing it with you today.

Food diary IV

It's been way too long since I did a food diary! During the holidays, I eat much more interesting things than my home-cooked London meals. It's summer after all :) so here's my diary of my summer so far. Pictures were taken at home, in Venice, Switzerland and in Knokke.

First up is a home-made fruit salad with watermelon, cantaloupe, peach, red berries and mint. I love fruit salads, even though they require a bit of peeling and chopping.

Bershka sportswear

This is the second time I write about the sportswear from Bershka, and it seems like every collection just keeps getting better. While I loved the leopard shorts from last collection, I missed out on them. No worries, the floral theme of the new collection is even more up my alley. The floral shorts, burgundy shoes and the burgundy leggings are my favourite items. Everything is really affordable and available in the online shop if there's no Bershka near you. I really like this collection, the colours and prints are so lovely.

Mini's

I love mini-products. They are perfect for traveling but most of all I think they look adorable. I've got a bunch of mini-products, partly bought, party received as gifts with magazines or full-size products and some are from hotels. Below is a selection of the products I've been using on recent trips.

Recipe: skinny zucchini spaghetti

I had a friend over recently who said she was kind of bored of eating zucchinis. But I actually think it's the most versatile vegetables! You can do so many things with it, like adding it raw to a salad, zucchini fritters, zucchini with quinoa or adding it to a vegetable soup. To give some more inspiration, here's another recipe: skinny zucchini spaghetti with tomato sauce and garlic breadcrumbs. For those of you who are craving spaghetti, but are trying to eat healthy, this is the perfect alternative. It's very light, simple and tasty.

Zara new collection favourites

I've been a little silent on my blog lately because I've been traveling again. I've barely been home for two days and today I leave to Spain to visit a friend for a couple of days. I'm really looking forward to it! It's just another advantage of having friends all over the world ;) Another upside to going to Spain is (you can guess by the title) Zara. I've put together a few of my favourites.

The following prices are Spanish prices.

Gold thin strap sandals: elegant and not over the top gold -  €49.95
TRF cross-body bag: these type of bags are perfect for going out - €22.95
Navy blue dress with knotted back: a really classy and cute dress - €39.95
Faux-leather jacket: this one reminds me of the Acne jackets. For being faux-leather it looks pretty real - €59.95
Skirt/shorts: I've see these one on many blogs, also in white. You can also wear this black one in winter with tights. - €25.95

Ristorante Da Enzo, Tegna

I usually don't really write about restaurants outside London, except when they are too good not to tell you about. Da Enzo is one of those. Hidden in a valley and between the linden trees, it's one of my favourite restaurants in the Ticino area. The garden, the heavy stone tables, the beautiful table setting and the delicious food steal my heart time after time.
