Work out playlist & the best earphones

I started going to the gym four to five times a week in January, with the goal of becoming strong and fit. Nearly two months later I've started noticing some progress which is pretty exciting. What keeps me going during a work-out is some good music, so I'll share my favourite songs with you.

Thann Aromatic Wood

I made a little rediscovery while organizing my beauty stuff (I use this storage box from Muji and it's perfect). I was looking for a shampoo to wash my make-up brushes with and found this travel set which I brought with me from Japan from a brand called Thann. While washing my brushes with the shampoo, I remembered why I had brought this with me, the smell is incredible!

Sunny Friday in London I

Last Friday was the first full day of my brother's weekend in London, and as the sun was shining - which you know I love - we headed off to Chelsea for some food & culture (mostly food though). You really need to make most of the sunny days in London so we spent the whole day walking around. This is part one of Friday since I took so many pictures.

Kurobuta pop-up

Kurobuta is a little laid-back pop-up restaurant run by Nobu's ex-head chef Scott Hallsworth, on the far end of King's Road. As you may know, Nobu is one of my favourite restaurants, so I was really curious to see what Kurobuta had to offer. Also, as my brother was visiting me, I wanted to go somewhere special so I hoped this would be a winner.

Sunshine citrus fruit salad

Good morning! I made this amazing looking (and tasting) citrus salad and I had to share some pictures. I love the colours and it makes me so happy in the morning! It's a mix of orange, blood orange, pomegranate and frozen raspberries. My brother is visiting me for a few days so I made this fruit salad for him this morning and a big smoothie. He brought some good Belgian bread which we had with almond butter and homemade Nutella. We've got lots of energy now and we're ready for a nice day in sunny London. If it's not that sunny wherever you are, I hope these pictures brighten up your day!

February wish list

I'm over halfway through my shopping-detox (10 more days!) and my wish list is starting to grow... But this detox is actually helping me figure out what I actually need, and not just stuff I would buy on a whim. First, I wouldn't mind a cool bikini for the summer and one of those big plastic cups which I'm sure I'll use a lot for water (with lemon, mint & cucumber) or homemade iced-tea.

Blue Triangl bikini - VS cup - black Triangl Bikini - blue VS cup

The beautiful Rouge Volupte lipsticks are being discontinued (only the sheer versions will stay) and I've always liked this pink colour so I might get it before it's gone forever. I also need a new mascara, foundation and concealer soon.
YSL Rouge Volupté Lingerie Pink - Benefit They're Real mascara - Nars Sheer Matte foundation - Nars radiant concealer

New trainers are more than welcome but also a new sports bra would be nice. I love my Nike X-back bra but the Victory one also seems good.

Dark & white chocolate fudge cookies

There's been a lot of food posts recently so I hope you don't mind... but if you do, you'll change your mind after trying these cookies. These are my go-to cookies for when I'm craving something sweet and very chocolate-y. They are super easy to make and they don't contain any flour or butter so that makes them a little better than most cookies. They are super soft, rich, gooey and best enjoyed hot from the oven with a cold glass of milk.

The Good Life Eatery

If something has the words organic, vegan, raw, sugar-, gluten-, dairy-free or natural on it, there's a big chance it's flying off the shelves. Healthy food is a big thing at the moment and I'm not complaining! Last week I visited South Kensington's most popular healthy café (think Whole Foods mixed with L.A.) and it didn't disappoint.

Superfood energy bites

Lately I've been seeing more and more healthy "energy balls", especially at health food stores. But they are usually quite pricey, so I decided to try to make them myself... and now I wish I had done this earlier, these sweet superfood bites are delicious. On top of that they're also sugar-free, vegan, natural and really good for you!

Givenchy SS14

Givenchy is slowly becoming one of my favourite handbag brands. Not only am I in love with my black Antigona bag, the new spring collection with baby pinks and pretty florals has also stolen my heart. I LOVE the light grey Antigona bag, it's so pretty and kind of an unusual colour too. This makes me long for spring: cherry blossoms all around!

2. Floral Antigona shopper
3. Light grey Antigona tote
4. Pink Obsedia cross-body bag
5. Baby pink Pandora wrist pouch

BodieBoost + health inspiration

A while ago I was contacted by a lovely girl, asking if I would be interested in reading the newest BodieBoost books. While I am not a big believer in diets, I quickly found out BodieBoost is more like a way of easing you into a healthy lifestyle, which appealed to me much more. I always up for learning more about health and nutrition!

Sunday brunch idea: sweetcorn fritters

Last weekend I felt inspired by my visit to Granger & Co. so I wanted to make sweetcorn fritters on Sunday. So I turned to one of my favourite blogs for the recipe and started cooking! I followed the exact recipe (click) so I'm not going to re-post it. It was really delicious and the perfect mix of flavours. I'll definitely be making this again soon!

February shopping detox

You might see a little less posts on beauty and fashion this month because together with my sister I'm doing a shopping detox this month. This means I can't buy beauty products, clothes or anything 'extra' and unnecessary. Only if I run out of something (like toothpaste) I'll buy it. And of course I'm still buying all the food I want and going out for dinner ;) It hasn't been hard so far, I'm just avoiding all the shops so I'm 99% sure I'll make it! Who's with me?
Picture from my Tumblr
On a side note, I looove these Alaïa ankle boots. The little 'wings' make them cute and feminine at the same time. I saw that Kate Moss was wearing these the other day which might make me love them even more!

Hair post: my haircare + tips

Today's post is all about hair! As you might remember, I cut my hair short about one year ago. This past year, my hair has grown pretty fast (for my standards) and it's healthier than before. So in today's (very long) post I'll share a few tips with you and tell you about my hair care routine.

Dinner at Sticks

Even though I've already written full reviews about Sticks 'n Sushi in Covent Garden and Wimbledon, I wanted to share a few pictures with you as I went to Sticks last Friday and brought my new camera to see how it would shoot food in a dark environment. I think it did very well, I'm SO happy with my new Canon gadget know as 100D in Europe and Rebel SL1 in the US. Now I still have to learn how to use it properly!

Granger & Co.

London is at its best when the sun shines. All you want to do is go outside and soak up the sunshine and London's beauty. When I woke up yesterday morning, I saw the sun peeking through my blinds and I knew it was going to be a good day. After a long but cold morning walk to Primrose Hill, I texted my Spanish amiga and we met in Notting Hill for a late brunch.

London hotspot guide

So to celebrate that whiskers & lions has been online for more than 2 years now, I have a little surprise for you today. It's taken me some time, but I worked on it over Christmas and finally managed to finish it: my London guide! During my three years in London I made it my mission to find all the best hotspots in the city. From where to find the best brunch to where to get the most beautiful flowers. Click on the map to go to the Google map!
London Hotspots Map guide

If you're living in London, you'll probably know about most of these places. However if you're visiting London, you'll probably want to make the most of your time here so that's why I've selected some my favourite restaurants, bars and shops and put them on a map for you! I haven't marked the obvious must-visits like all the great museums, department stores, markets, parks and landmarks; you can find those in any guide. This is more of an insiders food and drinks guide to London.

Light blue: breakfast & brunch
Green: healthy food
Red: lunch & dinner
Blue: coffee & sweets
White: shops & markets
Grey star: drinks & dancing

In terms of restaurants, I only pinned the ones I wrote a review about, so the ones I went to but didn't review, didn't make it to the map. That way, you can my full review, see pictures, and decide if it's a place you'd like. Of course, I'll be adding on all new places I review so this will be a map you'll always be able to use when you're in London.

I really hope you enjoy this map! - click here for the actual map

ps. this idea was totally inspired by Liza Chloe's Paris Guide. This guide is really great and I used it when I went to Paris, so make sure to check that out as well!
