6 tips to stay hydrated

We all know how important it is to drink enough water every day. It's the number one tip related to concentration, sleep, weight loss, digestion, good-looking skin and just overall health. While we hear/read "drink enough water!" all the time, it might not be such an easy thing to do for everyone. I used to drink too little but thankfully that has changed over the past few years, and I have my personal tricks to make sure I drink enough every day.

Oysho gymwear

If there's one shop I wish we had in London or Antwerp, it's Oysho (I've even written about it before). This Spanish brand makes cute pyjamas, swimwear and also sportswear. I haven't seen any of these items in real life but at first glance they look pretty as well as functional. You can order online at Oysho, though I still wish I could try on some of these items first. If you're looking for affordable and cute sportswear, Oysho's gymwear collection might have something you like!

A day in Den Haag / The Hague

Being home in Belgium for a week means I get to go to the Netherlands at least once during my stay, and this time we chose to visit The Hague (Den Haag in Dutch). We started at Het Keukenhof which is also known at the Garden of Europe because it's the world's largest flower garden. People from all over the world come to visit this garden - we saw Russians, Germans and even Japanese people!

Love: Vita Coco

If you know me well you'll know that coconut water is one of my favourite things to drink (I even called it my best discovery of 2011!). I like it best when the coconut water comes straight from a fresh coconut but second best - in my opinion - is Vita Coco. I've tried lots of different brands but keep coming back to this. I always have a large bottle in my fridge and some smaller cartons to take with me to uni or the gym; I can't go without it!

Beyoncé

Ever since I saw Beyoncé sing live last Friday, I've had her songs in my head non-stop and I've been listening to my favourite songs on repeat. Flawless voice, amazing concert, incredible woman... I only have praise for Beyoncé. I think my favourite songs she performed were Drunk in Love, Partition, Flawless and Why don't you love me. (click on the songs to listen to them, you have to listen to Flawless, I'm obsessed) I'm so happy I got the chance to see her live because it's been my wish - and my sister's as it was her birthday gift - for so long! Did any of you see her?

H&M Conscious Exclusive '14

While I don't really shop at H&M very often, I really love their more exclusive collections. My favourite must be the Conscious Exclusive collections, which are made from environmentally sustainable fabrics. The collection is really great every year and also this year's collection has stolen my heart. The lace and Baroque details make this a romantic collection which is perfect for spring. The collection will be launched on April 10th, so mark your calendars!

Fruity breakfast idea

I think you know by now how much I love a tasty and good looking breakfast. Last week I felt like having lots of fruit for breakfast so I made a juice and two small breakfast bowls. Fruit for breakfast will always be my favourite! Super tasty and amazing looking - if I may say so myself. These would also make the perfect additions to a big Sunday brunch.

Ohisama Sushi, Marylebone

A few weeks ago, on a Friday night right after submitting a big assignment, I felt like having a relaxed night in with sushi and a good movie. I had seen that a new sushi place had just opened in my neighborhood called Ohisama, so I decided to give it a try. Good take-away sushi is kind of hard to find in London so I'm really happy to have discovered this place.

Running/training update I

I thought it would be fun to do a little update on how I'm preparing for the We Own the Night run. Right now I'm doing it with four other friends and I hope more will sign up for the run! I have no idea what it will be like, will I even be able to run at my normal pace with so many other people around? I guess I'll find out on the day itself, so for now I'll just have to train.

Breakfast at The Natural Kitchen

Good morning! I hope you're all having a lovely Sunday. Mine started quite early as I met my friend for breakfast at The Natural Kitchen. The sun had just come out so we sat outside, so lovely. I had these toasted mini salmon bagels which were so good (I want these every morning!) and a fresh juice. You can choose your own juice combination so I went for a citrus-y orange, grapefruit, lime and ginger juice. The perfect energy boost before we headed to library where I'm sitting as I write this. I need to do some work so I can enjoy the sun later today!

Most loved X

It's already time for my tenth most loved post! I love making these posts, so I hope you like reading them. Here's my most loved...

Magazine: Harper's Bazaar March 2014
This month's Harper's Bazaar not only has an incredibly colourful cover with Rosie, but also a beautiful giraffe-themed photo shoot. I don't often buy magazines but this shoot and the cover did it for me!

Spring blacks

Spring usually means that we start wearing lots of pastels, whites etc. but who says you can't still wear black? March is a bit of a transitional period from dark and cold days to slightly more bearable and sunny days, so it's perfect to slowly mix black items with more spring-proof colours (whites, pinks, baby blues...) I made a little selection for you!

Nars Sheer Glow foundation - Gobi

I haven't written about beauty things in a while but it's because I haven't bought anything beauty related the past few weeks. Except one thing (because I ran out): foundation. I wanted a foundation which perfectly matched my skin and which wasn't too heavy, so I decided to try the Nars Sheer Glow foundation.

Sunday in (East) London

Sundays in London are not like Sundays back home. Shops are actually open, the streets are alive and there's lots of different things to do. This post is about two of my recent Sundays combined to hopefully give a good idea of things you can do. I went to East London on both Sundays because there's a lot going on there!

Berry breakfast & 500th post

This post in my 500th post! Pretty crazy if you ask me. Whiskers & lions is really a bit of a creative outlet for me where I can write whatever I like and share all the things I love and think you should know about. I love giving recommendations to friends, family and strangers! I hope my London Guide will come to good use whenever you're in London, and I'm sure I'll also write about the new places I plan to discover after my London adventure.

So I just wanted to thank each and every one of you for reading my blog. I get so happy when people (in real life) tell me they read my blog, and I'm even more happy - and surprised - that total strangers enjoy whiskers & lions. If you have your own blog, please share the link in the comments, I'd love to see it!

On a different note, here's a picture of an amazing breakfast I made last week: greek yoghurt, banana, frozen raspberries, frozen blueberries, goji berries, pomegranate and chia seeds. I love all the colours, it makes me so happy in the morning. Now I'm off to enjoy a warm and sunny weekend in London!

Food basics

Today's post is about some the food basics I always have in my fridge and in my cupboards. They are either basic products or extras which make my everyday meals and snacks a little healthier. Having them stocked means I'll be less tempted to reach for crap. I try to buy as many foods that haven't been overly processed. I thought it might give you some inspiration for your next grocery shopping trip.

Zara spring

After successfully completing the detox shopping month with my sister, Zara is no longer forbidden territory (sounds dramatic, and it is). I can't even remember the last time I went to Zara which is unusual for me, so I browsed the online store today and found some things I liked. I quite like the selection of casual/sporty chic wear Zara has at the moment.
ps. please let me know what you think of the new comment system, I know some people were unable to comment with the old system so I hope that's solved. But now all you anonymous commenters can no longer comment anonymously (your email will not be displayed however and is only for Disqus' moderation purposes). Let me know!

We Own The Night London

I've officially signed up for my very first running event. We Own The Night is a 10 kilometer womens run organised by Nike. It's two days before my dissertation deadline so now I have two things to work on, and I think it's a good balance between sitting behind my laptop and being active. I signed up on a bit of a whim, but luckily I easily convinced two of my friends to join me so I'm not alone in this! I'll keep you updated on how my training goes. If you live in Berlin, Paris, Milan or Amsterdam you can also sign up for this run. Who's joining me?

Saturday in London

Last Saturday was another sunny one, so my brother and I headed out early for a day filled with food, sun, paintings and cocktails.
