Regent Tweet 2014

Last Saturday I was invited by the lovely Sister PR team for a really cool event which took place on Regent's street. In my opinion, Regent's Street is one of the prettiest shopping streets in the world. The buildings are old and all have the same style and the shops are beautiful (Burberry's flagship is my favourite). Sister PR organised a day filled with workshops, drinks, snacks and goody bags for 200-something bloggers who came from all over the world for this special event.

Vitamin boost

Hello there, hope everyone enjoyed their weekend! I sure did. Yesterday, I attended a big blogger's event on Regent's Street which I will tell you all about tomorrow. It was super hectic and fun! After that, I hurried home to exchange my boots for heels and met up with the girls for dinner at Royal China (we had too much Peking duck, but it's so delicious there!). After dinner we had some drinks and ended up dancing all night at Scotch. Fun night, unfortunately we could all feel it today ;) That's why I took it easy all morning and picked up a new sports bra at Nike in the afternoon. Of course I had to pass Natural Kitchen for a vitamin boost: orange, lime, ginger and mint. So good and refreshing!

Lobster rolls at St. Paul's

Who doesn't love lobster rolls? It's decadent fast food; fancy but filthy at the same time. After visiting the Gaultier exhibition, my cousin and met up with her boyfriend near St. Paul's for lunch. I had heard about B.O.B.'s Lobster, which is hidden in The Rising Sun pub, so we decided to give it a go.

Food for thought

I rediscovered TED talks last night. It's so good, especially the iPhone app where you can download videos and watch them on your daily commute for example. Interesting talks by interesting people. The talk below by Jamie Oliver pretty much sums up my thoughts on food and education. I strongly believe education on food is just as important as education on smoking/drugs/etc. Children have almost no power on what they are eating, so they should be educated on food and learn how to cook for themselves (especially teenagers). Watch the video below and share your thoughts!

Zuma

You might see a lot of restaurant reviews on my blog the coming weeks because I only have one month left in London and still a lot of places to tell you about. One of these places is Zuma. Nobu and Zuma are pretty much competitors. Both are Japanese restaurants serving some of the best Japanese food in London. I had only been to Nobu before, but a few weeks ago my mom and I had a spontaneous lunch at Zuma (the same day we went to Kurobuta, Japanese food overload, can't get enough of it!)

Adidas loving

I'm currently loving the Adidas Originals and the Stella McCartney for Adidas collections. I want it all! If I had to pick I'd choose the flower shorts (so I included them twice, totally on purpose.. ;) ), the tennis skirt, the cutout swimsuit and the blue/white checked tights (how cute?). I will have to keep an eye on these items once the sale season starts. I have noticed over the past few months that I am more interested in sports clothes than anything else. Who else has experienced this? Before, I was never into gym clothes and now it's all I look at!

Ottolenghi

You might have seen Yotam Ottolenghi's cookbooks at a friend's kitchen, maybe even your own. By just flicking through those cookbooks, you'll quickly notice that Yotam does some incredible things with vegetables. These aren't just simple salads, but a mix of different vegetables, herbs and spices you wouldn't just come up with yourself. I must admit that some recipes require many different ingredients which makes it a bit complicated, but luckily there are some Ottolenghi delis spread around London to get the real Ottolenghi taste.

Flowers in Chelsea

This week, the Chelsea Flower Show has taken over Chelsea, which also means that the shops around Sloane Square are competing with the most beautiful flowers. Even for those not attending the flowers show, there's still a lot of flowers to admire. I wanted to show you some of my favourite displays, because you know how much I love flowers!

Late night snack

I made this snack last Monday after a work-out, before watching the newest Game Of Thrones episode and it was so good! It feels like a real treat, while all ingredients are good for you. This snack is really easy to make too, here's what you need:
- 3 rice cakes
- 1 banana
- Peanut butter (Meridian smooth peanut butter is my favourite)
- Cinnamon & cacao nibs
I don't think I need to explain how to prepare it, right? It's so simple and a really good mix of different flavours. This also makes a really good breakfast!

The fashion world of Jean Paul Gaultier

Last Friday, my cousin and I checked out the Jean Paul Gaultier exhibition at the Barbican (click here for more info). I had only been to the Barbican once before, for the Victor & Rolf exhibition. Though I never really paid specific attention to Gaultier's designs, I absolutely loved the exhibition. Gaultier's detailing and absolutely crazy (in a good way) ideas are mind blowing. If you're in London, you really can't miss this exhibition. However I'm aware that most of you might not be able to visit this exhibition so I made tons of photos to show you the best bits. The exhibition is kind of huge so prepare yourself for a picture-heavy post!

Summer Sunday

I don't know what happened but all of the sudden it's SUMMER in London! The weather has been amazing this week and it gets hotter by the day (tomorrow 27 degrees!!). I've been spending all my time outside in the sun with my lovely friends and some ice cold drinks. Yesterday night was the first time I went out with bare legs and I didn't get cold, love it! It's super important to wear SPF during the day and stay hydrated. I'm no longer eating porridge (too hot!) and used my last oats to make granola :) Instead, I make fruit plated like the one below. This kind of weather asks for it, don't you think? Tomorrows post is about something cool I did on Friday, so stay tuned. Hope you're having a lovely Sunday!

Study/work spots in London (+wifi)

I'm the type of person who cannot focus on work at home. I get so easily distracted and find 1000 things to do other than my work. So the past three years, I've been studying in various libraries and café's in London. I've made a list of my favourites, some with and some without wifi. So whenever you need to do some work, one of these places might be perfect for you! Or if you're only visiting London, it's also good to know which places have free wifi.

Granger & Co. Clerkenwell

As soon as I heard that a second Granger & Co. would open in London, I couldn't wait to go. It's my favourite place for brunch in London, though Notting Hill can get very crowded on weekends. The new Granger & Co. is in Clerkenwell, a lovely residential area near where I used to live. On Tuesay, the day after handing in our dissertations, my friends and I met up in Clerkenwell for a much-needed brunch.

We Own The Night London recap

About two months ago, I signed up for Nike's We Own The Night women's run. Very exciting, because 1) it was two days away from my dissertation deadline and 2) it would be my first race, ever! Together with Annemerel, Roosmarijn and two of my bestest friends, I ran through Victoria park along with thousands of other women (and a few men). The atmosphere was amazing! I'll take you through the night..

Flatplanet

Flat Planet was on my to-do list for ages (my ever growing list of things to do/eat in London). Up until yesterday, I had only gotten some pink lemonades on the go. But at Flatplanet you can also eat freshly made organic spelt flatbreads topped with delicious things. There's a big pile of fresh dough and a little oven, so the whole place smells like a kind of bakery, love it!

We Own the Night London

Tonight's the night! My first ever race (not counting the little races I did when I was in middle school). The weather is having some major moodswings today and I really hope it won't rain tonight. The 10km  race starts at 8 pm and I hope to be finish within 50 minutes but we'll see how it goes! I'm just excited to be able to run with my friends AND one of my biggest running inspirations Annemerel and her sister. I've been training for this race for a few months now so I hope it will pay off! I will definitely let you know how it went and can't wait to start blogging a bit more now!

Hello!

Hi there, just wanted to let you know what I'm up to. The past few days, weeks, months I've been working very hard on my bachelor dissertation and while I'm writing this, it's being printed and bound! I'm actually a bit scared that I forgot to include a document (try merging over 30 documents together) or that I made an embarrassing typo somewhere. I only had a few hours of sleep last night but I'm feeling energised and tense because of all the stress, green teas and coffees. I will only feel relief once I've submitted everything on Monday I think! edit: I wrote this yesterday. My dissertation looks pretty badass I must say, it feels like I wrote a book!

The past few weeks looked like this: wake up early, go to the library and start working at 9. Take some breaks to get sushi at Itsu or a juice at Joe & the Juice and continue to work work work! I'm so glad it's over but at the same time.. what I am going to do with all this free time now?!

ps. can you spot this little good luck note on the bottom left? It's from Jason Statham (swoon!) and it took me some courage to go up to him, haha!

Cinco de Mayo healthy taco recipe

I made this recipe last week and thought I'd keep it for Cinco de Mayo, the Mexican-American celebration on May the 5th. I only realised that Cinco de Mayo is today (I swear time flies when you're working on a major deadline) and I still wanted to share the recipe with you. It's really easy, tasty and a healthy alternative to regular tacos.

Fit & health tag (Work That Es)

I love reading tags, though most of them are about beauty and fashion. I recently filled in the 25 questions tag and enjoyed that a lot so today I'm filling in a brand new fitness tag which Esmée came up with. She's super fit and super inspiring, thanks for coming up with this tag!

Orange-pink fruity breakfast

If you follow me on Instagram, you're probably thinking "oh there she goes again with her breakfast bowls!" every time I upload a picture of my breakfast ;) But I can't help it, I've become a big fan of creating the best breakfasts to start my day! I love the colours and the flavours, and it just makes me happy. I loved the breakfast below, as it was a little different than usual.

I included one orange, strawberries, pomegranate and one Indian mango. The 'smoothie' under it is made from 1 banana, frozen raspberries and a small beetroot. The beetroot gives it the gorgeous colour and a bit of a special flavour, but I liked it. It was perfect in combination with the mango.

Have a lovely Sunday!
