Brunch is BIG in New York. It's the perfect meal because 1) it's acceptable to order both waffles and fries, and 2) if you do it right, you have breakfast and lunch in one go and won't need another meal until the evening. Since I didn't take many pictures at these three places but I still wanted to share them, I decided to make one big post with three New York brunch spots. Ruby's serves a nice Australian brunch, at Maman you get a French déjeuner and at The Smith you'll find real American-style options.

Buvette is one of those brunch classics in New York that everyone seems to go to at least once during their stay in the city. Which is funny, because it's French, not American. It's located in Greenwich Village, in a charming little street. Last Sunday, I went with two friends and we had one of the most decadent brunches I've had in a while!

I love being one of the first people to try a new place. Everything is fresh, the owners/staff go above and beyond to please their first customers and you get to try it before the rest of the world finds out about it too (endless queueing). So when I saw that a little Australian café called Banter would open on Thursday, I was determined to try it, snow day or not. And it so happens to be super close to where we live, so my roommate and I walked right over for brunch.

Today's post is a mini review of a brunch spot in the East Village. Boulton & Watt looks like nothing special from the outside, and inside it feels more like a run down pub than a place where you'd have brunch. But when my friend told me they had the best french toast in town, I had to go try it.

Linda Tol is probably my favourite Dutchie I follow on Instagram. Even though she works in fashion, she always stays herself and is super sweet. And she goes to the coolest places. When she was in New York last year I saw that she went to Café Henrie for brunch (and said it was one of her favourites), and it looked so great I immediately wrote it down. Now, months later, I could finally go and try it myself!

On my first morning in New York, I walked over to The Butcher's Daughter for breakfast. I had been wanting to go here for ages, and since it's only a 10-minute walk from where I'm staying now, there was no reason why I shouldn't go (except the rain, but that still didn't stop me). This little place serves up one of New York's best vegan brekkies, so I'd been told.

I rarely go to Brussels, so when I had to visit the U.S. embassy a couple of weeks ago, I asked my cousin where I should go for brunch. She told me I could get some tasty coffee and vegan snacks at a little place called MOK, so I was sold. It was a bit out of the way, but thankfully it was 100% worth it.

Two weekends ago, I hopped on a plane to Munich to visit some friends and to live the Munich life again for two days. I lived in Munich for half a year in 2015, and it already felt like an eternity since I'd been there. In those 6 months, I tried more restaurants than I ever thought possible and compiled them all in one big guide. Of course, I couldn't try it all, so I was happy to finally tick Die Waldmeister off my list. This charming little place does a killer breakfast (or frühstück) on the weekend!

I love a good brunch. When I lived in London it was my favourite thing to do on a Sunday. You can get out of bed whenever you please, make your way to your favourite brunch spot, choose between sweet or savoury and stay and chat at your little table for hours. There's nothing more relaxing. Up until now, I hadn't found a brunch spot in Antwerp which I loved. But now I've found my brunch fix in Antwerp at Barchel. And they serve food all day, so there's really no excuse why you shouldn't try their (already) famous poached eggs on flatbread.

Although I often make banana pancakes on Sundays, I realised I never posted my updated recipe. I posted a delicious protein banana pancake recipe in 2014, but as you may know I've reduced my intake of animal products some time ago, so I've taken the eggs and milk out of the recipe so that it's all vegan now. I love a good stack of maple syrup-covered pancakes on a lazy Sunday!

Since I'm going to London this week for a visit to my second home, I thought I'd do a London-flavoured post about one of the best things to do in the city on a Sunday: brunch. What else? I visited this cute little place called Lantana last November, and I totally forgot to share this one with you. It's less known than the really popular brunch places like The Breakfast Club and Granger & Co., but that definitely doesn't mean it's less good. Lantana knows how to serve a killer Aussie brunch! (and now that I've been to Australia, I can definitely confirm it;) )

I'm totally hooked on homemade granola. It's a small effort but you have an extra breakfast/snack option all week. I add it to Açaí bowls or have it with some Oatly as a dessert or snack. I had never made chocolate granola before so I tried it for the first time last week. It was so good I just made it again, so I'm sharing the recipe for my choco pop granola with you too now! It's not too sweet, super chocolatey and it kind of tastes like Choco Pops, but better! And of course it's full of nutritious ingredients, so it's the perfect granola to start your day with.

Ever since I found out how much sugar store-bought granola contains, I often make my own. I usually make my everyday granola with very little sugar/syrup/honey (recipe here) but this time I wanted to make the sweet, clustery kind, like the one you can get in the supermarket. So although this might not be the healthiest breakfast option, at least you know there are no ingredients in it you can't pronounce plus 4 types of sugar. All natural ingredients and all vegan. And oh my, it's GOOD. Say hello to the ultimate clustery coconut-y granola goodness:

Nopi had been on my London-to-do for absolutely ages. Somehow I never managed to go there during the three years I spent in London, shame on me! Nopi is Yotam Ottolenghi's restaurant which is quite different than his famous delis. Here you can enjoy some chef Ramael Scully's classics (which you'll also find in their new cookcook Nopi), but the menu is also seasonal so you never have to eat the same thing twice. You can pretty much eat here for any meal of the day, but we chose to have breakfast at Nopi!

With Valentine's day around the corner, I thought it would be fun to make a little V-day themed post. When I think of Valentine's day, I think of nice lingerie, flowers and good food. I know, it's a super commercial day, but it's still nice to make a little effort. It's the perfect time to treat your loved ones and/or yourself! It doesn't have to cost much at all, I'll show you how to have the perfect Valentine's day with just three ingredients.

Although my most recent trip to Paris was a few months ago now, I still have one place I wanted to share with you. I've been seeing a lot of Paris pics on my Instagram feed lately which makes me miss this beautiful city already! So let's go back a few months... I had a huge list of places to try in Paris, but because of the circumstances, many of the places were closed on Saturday. One of them, however, kindly opened its doors to Parisians & others. It felt (and looked) like a little safe-haven amidst the craziness of that particular weekend.

Breakfast is by far my favourite meal of the day, and I love making a little extra effort during the weekend. Today I'm sharing a recipe which I've been making quite often recently. It's 100% vegan and 100% delicious. I kind of tried to healthify my regular crêpe recipe by using spelt and oat flour instead of plain white flour. And instead of butter and whipped cream, I used coconut oil and coconut whipped cream to make it vegan-proof. Even yummier than the original if you ask me! Sunday isn't complete without a big beautiful stack of crêpes, so put on your apron and let's get flippin'

Week three of January was filled with carbs, baking and pancakes. Basically all comfort food! Who ever still thinks a vegan diet is automatically a healthy diet, couldn't be more wrong. There are tons of less nutritious foods which are also vegan, like french fries, pasta and veganaise.. and I ate all of that this week. So it wasn't necessarily the most healthy week but that's not what this month is about for me. As long as it's vegan, I'll eat it! It's all about balance, after all.

I read Metro - free newspaper - pretty much every time I take the train. So this week, I read a fun little article about the new superfood predictions for 2016. Because I liked the idea and thought I could add some more things to the list, I decided to make a list with 8 food things which will be trendy in 2016. I mostly looked at the 'healthy' food trends since I'm familiar with those!

I still have some places to tell you about from my last visit to my beloved London. But since it's vegan month & all, I decided to share with you another vegan spot I discovered. I had been following 26 Grains' Instagram account for ages. I mean, how can you not? And although I pretty much 'liked' every single photo they uploaded, I somehow thought that 26 Grains was located in Australia (which shows how many Aussie food places I follow.. definitely too many). So when my London friend Sarah suggested we'd go to 26 Grains for breakfast, I was both surprised and very excited (as excited you can get about porridge.)
