Frietjes met bitterballen

People across the world know Belgium for its beer, chocolate, waffles and fries with mayonnaise. Not exactly the most healthy image but I guess most countries are known for their food (Italy has pasta, Spain has tapas and America has burgers)

Although the collaboration between Marni and H&M is not completely my cup of tea, there are some pieces I really like. Like the silk pyjama shirt and shorts. I first saw the pyjama shirt worn by day (yes, worn like a normal shirt) on Rumi from Fashiontoast, and now I'm actually starting to like the pyjama trend.

Buls, Brussels

After my mother picked me up in Brussels yesterday, she took me to the cutest little restaurant ever. It's called Buls and it is a very particular restaurant, well it's not really a restaurant but what they call in French tables d'hotes. This means that there is a set menu for a set price, and everyone is welcome in this charming little restaurant. My mother and I sat at a big table with people we didn't know, but that didn't bother me at all. It makes the restaurant feel so homely and more personal than any other restaurant I've been to.

The restaurant is run by three people: two old little grandma's (sisters) and one younger man. One of the sisters is 84 years old, and drives to the market every morning at 4 am to buy enough food for the day. Then the team of three starts cooking at 10 in the morning, and opens the restaurant at midday. The people than come there are mostly people working in Brussels who have lunch at Buls regularly. The restaurant is open till 2 pm every day, and on weekends people are welcome to enjoy a good breakfast.

I love the song they played at the Burberry Prorsum fashion show. Normally that's not really my type of music, but this one has something I like. By Marina & the Diamonds. "I'm Marina, you are my diamonds." Oh, and Cara Delevigne looked stunning at the show (when doesn't she?). Click 'read more' to listen to the song.

Burberry Prorsum

Yesterday I watched the Burberry Prorsum show online. I was amazed by the amount of people attended the show. Most of the time fashion shows are a little bit more intimate, but this venue was huge. Burberry Body model Rosie Huntington looked beautiful as always. And I like Cara Delevigne even more now, she's so edgy even though she's only 18.

I've come across the name Miroslava Duma several times the past few weeks, and I'm really starting to like this Russian beauty. She used to be an editor for Harper's Bazaar Russia, but now does freelance work for several magazines. She's a real fashion icon, who shows up at fashion shows in really nice outfits. I especially like this picture taken at NYFW last week. I love the colors of the sweater matched with the jean shirt. I really like Miroslava's specific style, and the way she uses bright colors in her outfits without looking like a rainbow.

I'm sorry for the lack of posts last weekend, I promise to post much more again this week. I have quite a busy month ahead regarding uni assignments. I can't wait for Easter holidays! As a bonus I show you the pictures of my bedroom wall before and after.

Sleek Rose Gold

Today, I'll show you one of Sleek's best selling blushes called Rose Gold. The reason why it's so popular is because it's a dupe of the incredibly popular NARS Orgasm blush (it's a staple in every beauty girl's make up bag!). That's also the reason why Rose Gold is really difficult to get hold of; I rarely see it in stock!

Diptique Philosykos

"Reminiscent of a Greek summery day"

Philosykos by Diptique is my favorite perfume. To begin with, I'm not really someone who loves perfume and I can live without it. Most scents are just too strong for my taste. Yes you could say that I'm a bit sensitive when it comes to scents. I prefer natural and more subtle scents, like this eau de toilette for example.

Tips for Monday blues

Monday blues. We've all experienced it (some more than others). Waking up Monday morning, not wanting to leave the bed and just feeling generally low-spirited and annoyed most of the day. Everyone knows the feeling so today I'll share tips for my readers that also have a hard time getting out of bed (because that's the worst part about Monday's).

Liberty fabrics

Yesterday I checked out Liberty's fabric department. I almost never go there because it's on the fourth floor and I usually get stuck on the second floor because there is so much to see at Liberty. Anyway I always knew Liberty had really nice fabrics but yesterday I was amazed once again by the amount of beautiful fabrics they have. I was surprised to see some modern patterns, which are a lot different than the classic flower patterns. I definitely recommend having a peek at Liberty's haberdashery when you're in London. I found some nice examples of the classic fabrics on the Liberty website, so enjoy!

Vita Coco

Vita Coco, coconut water in a carton, is - hands down - the best discovery of 2011 for me. This drink is the ultimate freshness and hydration, which is all I'm looking for in a daily drink. It tastes better than all soft drinks and it's much healthier. You'll either love it or hate it. But I encourage (no, DEMAND) everyone to try it out next time they see it in the supermarket. The most important thing is to drink it when it's ice cold. It reminds me of the trip I made to Brazil with class mates, where we drank fresh coconut water every day.. mmm! You can find it at Waitrose and Sainsbury's.

I've officially declared war to the wall behind my bed. Yes, the one I was redecorating. The reason is quite simple. I was sleeping very peacefully when all of the sudden I was woken by something that scared the hell out of me. It wasn't a big hairy monster but  - much worse - ALL the pictures and posters I hung up on the wall. The whole thing just fell down on my bed for no good reason and I just couldn't believe it. I think I should definitely buy that Vogue because apparently, the rest just isn't good enough for my wall (what a joke).

To end on a happy note, here's a picture of two of my favorite models: Lara Stone and Kate Moss. They look so great together with their little animal ears! (source: Little Plastic Horses)

Recipe: healthy breakfast

To be honest I've never been a big fan of breakfast. I think everyone has their own special little breakfast habits. Some love eating a simple toast with jam while others cringe at the thought of eating a full English breakfast.
In London, I almost always eat fruit for breakfast, combined with natural yogurt. So today I have a breakfast recipe for you. It's simple but oh so good.

I only just got back from work so I'm really tired. And the fact that I have a lecture in the morning should make me feel like going to bed right now and get a good rest. But no, I am not ready to go to bed yet, my mind is just not set to it...

So I write a new blog post, check out some online shops, watch desperate housewives, eat cheesecake and listen to good music. My current favorite song is Born to die by Lana Del Rey. It's just perfect. I calms me down so it's great to listen to on almost any occasion. And I know that many agree with me (at least 100,000 people do, seeing from the 'Likes'. Go Lana!)

Right now I'm in the middle of redecorating the wall behind my bed. Since I'm renting the studio I currently live in I have to be creative to make this place my own. I got bored of the images that were on my wall, so yesterday - late at night - I tore everything off (sounds more dramatic than it actually was). I received this pretty pastel poster from Asos that came with their magazine which I put up on the wall already but there are still some empty spots which need to be filled in asap. I've been seeing the new Vogue with Lana Del Rey on the cover everywhere, and now I really want to have it. It's such a pretty cover, and besides, I need to finish decorating that wall. I know it's bad to destroy a brand new magazine but I enjoy it more when it's up on my wall rather than on my magazine stack.

I'm in love with Zara's new collection. Every time I check the website, there's something new to add to my wish list. I tried the black lace shorts on in November already and was doubting about whether I really needed shorts in the middle of winter or not. But now it's spring and there's (almost) no excuse not to buy them. The army jacket also looks really good but it costs 100 euro's which I think is a little too much for a summer parka. Hmm, I definitely need to start saving up!

Food hall

Yesterday I showed my brother the Selfridges food hall. I love it there because you can find all kinds of food you can't find anywhere else. American sweets, Japanese sushi, special vegetables, Krispy Kreme doughnuts and Belgian cookies. There is also a flower section where they sell the most beautiful flowers; yes I'm a real flower girl. I mean, take a look at those roses. They are not the standard red and white roses, but a beautiful pink that I rarely see in any other flower shops. The meringue also looks different than usual. I'm not sure how they make them but I'll ask my sister if she can try and make it once (she's a real meringue specialist). Now I go out and enjoy another b-e-a-utiful day in London!

A thousand words

They say a picture says a thousand words, so in this case, here are 8000 words for you. These are some pictures of the nice day my brother and I had.The weather was so nice we decided to stay outside most of the day. If only the temperature would rise...
