New York day two and three! I had my first two classes at my new university and yesterday was the first sunny day since I arrived. Every city I know is 10 times better when the sun shines! I also finally upgraded my phone yesterday so from now on I can finally take better quality photos. Although it's a little overwhelming to be here, I already know I'm going to love it!
Started my day with a carrot juice from Suja, which I found at Whole Foods. The perfect way to start my day while walking to uni.
At the moment I'm not staying anywhere near my university, it takes about 1 hour and 20 minutes to walk there, but I did it twice already because walking is the only way to really get to know a new city. My route takes me right through Times Square. Admittedly, not my favourite place, but it's kind of calm in the morning.
I spotted this very cool-looking shop called October's Very Own. I love the owl logo.
Bluestone Lane was a coffee spot I wrote down on my list and I walked by one on my way to school. This soy milk flat white was really good! For some reason, I feel like Americans make the flat whites less strong here? I've had a couple and I think they add more milk here. (51 Astor Place)
We had a long break in between classes so I walked over to 5th Avenue with one of my classmates to see some of the shops. New York was so gloomy (okay today it's also gloomy.. I'm praying for more sunshine)
We passed the Trump Tower and there was a whole news channel set-up in front of it and a lot of policemen. They blocked the whole block so no one can go to Tiffany and Gucci (which are next door). They must be making a huge loss because of this..
Cartier always has the most beautiful stores, so classic.
There's a Whole Foods nearby the university so we got some snacks before class. I had these vegetable rolls with a spicy peanut sauce, super fresh and tasty.
Yesterday the sun shone brightly so I walked around in Soho for a bit, where I spotted One World Trade Center.
I also ran into the New Museum which I want to visit soon.
Had a really delicious almond flat white at La Colombe Coffee Roasters. It's the best coffee I've tried so far here. (154 Prince Street)
I got a new phone and started to use it straight away, the quality is SO much better! This is the famous Flatiron Building.
Yesterday I met up with my uni friends at Chelsea Market. We didn't actually eat here but just walked around here and went to Antropologie (they have a HUGE sale). I must come back to Chelsea Market, everything looked so appealing. (75 9th Ave)
I walked through Bleecker Street for the first time and I fell in love with this neighborhood. It reminds me a bit of Kings Road and Primrose Hill in London, with the little boutique stores and restaurants.
Last night we had dinner at Dos Caminos, a Mexican restaurant. Since we were quite early it was easy to get a table for 9 people, luckily! The food was quite good, although I must say I preferred the food at Rosie's. I love Mexican food though, and New York is full of Mexican restaurants! (675 Hudson Street)
Today is inauguration day, I'm curious to see how New Yorkers will react today and this weekend (there's also a big Women's March here). I'll keep you posted.
