In today's post, I want to tell you a bit about one of my favorite restaurants in New York. Charlie Bird is different than any other restaurant I've been to in this city. It's the kind of place where I feel right at home, and I haven't figured out whether it's the staff, the vibe or the delicious food. Probably the combination of everything. Charlie Bird, as described on their website, "wants to be your favorite neighborhood joint". And for me, it has become exactly that.
We sat down on their amazing sun-soaked terrace and ordered the rosé, there's only one on the menu and it's really good.
We ordered a bunch of snacks from the menu, starting with the farro salad and burrata.
Gnocchi Rosa, always tasty
Live Diver Scallop with brown butter
Montauk fluke crudo with fresh lime and olive oil
And some of the best fries I've had in New York...
Doesn't this spread look like the ultimate summer's day apéro?
I brought one of my best friends here for dinner a couple weeks ago, and we had a similar meal.
Starting with the rosé (and the best Grissini you'll ever taste, make sure you ask for it)
Farro salad, Montauk fluke crudo and burrata with charred broccoli (we didn't actually like it, the broccoli was just burnt)
Tortellini with nettles, English pea & ricotta salata. I love this one!
I'm sorry for the mediocre iPhone quality photos, I feel like they don't do the place any justice. If you're in New York, this is definitely a must-go. Order the farro salad, a couple of pastas and some rosé, I know you'll love it. If you go for dinner be sure to make a reservation, I'm not the only person in New York who loves this places.

The interior is very relaxed but at the same time also a little chic. They always play good music here, which creates a young-ish vibe. I feel like I could bring both my parents and group of friends here, it kind of caters to everyone.
I've been to Charlie Bird for dinners, lunches and long rosé-filled afternoons (with snacks). Although the menu is small, I haven't gotten bored of the food yet. The dishes are interesting enough and vary slightly every time I try them.
The lunch menu has a prix fixe option: $32 for a small plate and a pasta, which is super reasonable considering the amount and quality of food you get.
We ordered the Charred Octopus and Farro Salad to start, followed by Cacio e Pepe.
I tried the Farro salad the first time I came to Charlie Bird and every time I go back I order it. It's the best salad in the world. Trust me, everyone who tries it loves it. It has farro, parmesan, mint, basil, peas, pistachios and radishes. A sublime combination!
The Cacio e Pepe is only available on the brunch/lunch menu. Super creamy, thick, cheesy and very peppery. It's a very rich pasta dish but oh so good.
Between 3 and 5.30 PM, there's a snack menu, which has plenty of good options (you could basically call it lunch).
